With the standard 30x objective, a magnification of 300x is achieved, providing the low depth of field required for precise work. Naturally, measurements with normal width can also be performed with the microscope. The smallest graduation on the scale integrated into the eyepiece is 1 um. The length of the measuring scale is 0.2 millimeters and the field of view is 0.48 millimeters.

Important for optimal values is to always focus the top and bottom levels from the same side. This is the only way to eliminate inaccuracies in the measurement resulting from a slight recoil. Centered illumination directly through the lens plays a significant role. This light provides guidance for identifying the focal plane.

The fine focusing mechanism can be slid to the side for quick adjustment. The MST stand provides secure positioning on rollers or flat material for depth measurement. An additional five millimeters of X-adjustment with high magnification allows feeding between focal planes when they can no longer be encompassed by the field of view. The use of a digital camera in combination with the measuring unit is not possible.
